Certificate Courses Questions

Q1. For certificate courses, what are the difference between Face-to-Face class and online class?

For face-to-face classes, students come to our training centres to attend the classes. We have timetables for different units. Each student must attend all the classes and complete all the unit assignments (in a written workbook) before he or she can receive the certificate.

There are some major benefits for face-to-face classes:

  • We run classes Monday to Friday days and nights – students are able to finish their unit assignments within 1 month if they attend all classes every day.
  • Ideal for those students who are free to attend class in day time.
  • Students are able to have face-to-face interactions with the trainers in a live class.
  • Students can make appointments with trainers for assisting with problems in assignments or work placements.

For online classes, students will be given a username and password for access to our Online Learning Environment. In the Online Learning Environment, students can go through all the unit’s learning materials themselves, and submit their assignments within the system.

There are also some major benefits for online classes:

  • Students can start their certificate learning and assignments at anytime and anywhere. The only requirement is to have a functioning computer with internet access.
  • Ideal for students who are busy at day time, unable to attend class or studying on a part-time basis.
  • Students can get assistance from the trainers about the assignments or work placements by raising questions via our Online Learning Environment, or sending emails to our trainers.
  • Students can contact us at any time in office hours by email or phone regarding any technical problems in using the Online Learning Environment.
  • We are having FREE orientation sessions for all Online Students every month. The session is held in our main office in Glen Waverley, Melbourne.
  • There are plenty of videos, tutorials and guidelines to enable students to work through our Online Learning Environment. You can catch up with the system very easily even if you don’t have much computer knowledge.
  • Job Training Institute is now introducing the new Free Online Live Class. Students can join the Live Class which is very similar to a face-to-face teaching class.

Q2. When can I start the Certificate Course?

You can start your Certificate Course at anytime.

For face-to-face classes, since we are running classes Monday to Friday, students can join the class once they have successfully applied for the course. Students do not need to follow any particular order in finishing the units; as long as all the units that are required in the certificate course are completed, together with a required number of hours in a work placement, he or she can get the certificate on completion.

For online classes, as students can access all the unit learning materials and assignments once they have been given the access to our Online Learning Environment, they can start the course at anytime they want. It is very flexible!

Q3. How long do I need to finish a Certificate Course?

Since our certificate courses are so flexible in time for students to complete, there are no exact days in which the courses must be finished. However, if students are doing the course on a daily basis, they are able to get a certificate within 6 weeks!

Once students have settled their payments in full, and completed most of the units, our Work Placement Coordinator will arrange a work placement for students in aged care facilities or nursing homes according to the home address of the student. Up till now, we are 100% successful in finding work placements for all our students.

Q10. When and how can I get the certificate once I have finished all the units and the work placement?

After students have finished all the assessment required in the course, they can apply to receive the certificate. Students can either get their certificates by post, or come to our Glen Waverley Office in Melbourne to collect them. The process of issuing certificates takes up to seven working days.
