JTI offers flexible training that suits individuals and fulfils industry requirements. The flexible nature of this course caters to students in need of flexible work hours, such as working mothers and others who are currently employed and wish to either further their education or change career paths. The course duration ranges from 4 to 6 months.
DELIVERY METHODS

The theory phase of this course is offered as classes at JTI. It includes face-to-face instruction by experienced trainers, and practical sessions involving small group and individual activities. The next phase of the course is a supervised job placement working with disabled individuals, either in a facility or in the community. JTI allows flexibility in the supervised job placement phase, but there are some stipulations. The student can decide on the location of placement as long as high-care needs are incorporated and as long as the student undertakes some morning shifts. Morning shifts are important because practicals for manual handling are taught in the morning. Each student will be assigned a supervisor in the facility or community who makes sure that all required hours have been completed.
The Certificate IV in Disability Work course may be undertaken as a traineeship programme by new or existing workers employed a minimum of 15 hours per week. Like the regular programme, JTI is flexible with the traineeship programme. The duration of the programme depends on the needs of the trainee completing the ‘on the job’ and ‘off the job’ requirements in 6 months (minimum duration) or 2 years for full-time workers.
This course is also offered online. All of the necessary resources and assessments for in-class training are available online, allowing those who cannot attend face-to-face training a way to learn online.
